What the pathway looks like in practice
Initial screening
In everyday practice, the family doctor or paediatrician can start the allergy assessment with a screening test, such as Phadiatop™ or Phadiatop™ Infant, when IgE-mediated allergy is suspected.
Whole allergens
If the result is positive, the next step is to identify the relevant allergens by measuring specific IgE against whole allergens.
Molecular components
In complex cases, in polysensitization, in severe reactions, or when primary sensitization has to be distinguished from cross-reactivity, molecular testing with allergen components can be recommended.
This stepwise approach helps to build a clearer sensitization profile and provides a solid basis for clinical interpretation and for choosing the appropriate management.
